Vanguard v2.0 — April 21, 2026

The Vanguard had the kit of a tank but the feel of a slower DPS with a shield. Shield Wall reduced damage, War Cry buffed allies, Fortify made you tanky for a few seconds. All functional. None of it screamed "I am the wall between you and death." So we rebuilt the identity.

Rallying Banner — Plant Your Flag

The Vanguard's new signature ability. Hit the button and a faction banner on a pole appears at your location — an actual painted sign entity displaying your faction's colors. Everyone within 10 meters heals 3 HP per second for 20 seconds. It's a rally point, a push marker, and a statement.

The banner is a real world entity — enemies can see it and know where the fight's at. It's not subtle. It's not supposed to be. You're a Vanguard. You don't hide.

Berserker Charge — Now Actually Fast

Berserker Charge was "+50% speed for 3 seconds." Honestly, you could barely tell it was active. Now it's +100% speed for 5 seconds and your first melee hit during the charge deals 2× damage. That's a gap closer that actually closes gaps.

Fortify — Tank Mode with Teeth

Fortify now heals you 20 HP for every hit you take during its 8-second duration, on top of the 50% DR it already had. You're slowed while it's active, but that's the point — you plant your feet and dare them to hit you. Each hit heals. Each hit proves they made a mistake engaging.

Five New Passives

The Vanguard's skill tree now has a full passive package that reinforces the tank identity:

⚔️ Heavy Strikes Every melee hit slows the target 50% for 1 second (3s cooldown per victim). You don't chase — you stick.
🛡️ Spiked Carapace Reflect 25% of melee damage when holding a shield. Punishes anyone who swings into you.
🔥 Last Stand Drop below 30% HP? All cooldowns reset. 2-minute internal cooldown. One big second wind.
🛡️ Shield Durability Shields lose condition 50% slower. Because you're going to be blocking a lot.
💀 Unbreakable Once per life: drop below 15 HP = 80% damage reduction for 5 seconds. The unkillable moment.

The Tank Fantasy

The Vanguard now does what a tank should: create space, absorb punishment, and punish aggression. Heavy Strikes means anyone you touch is slowed. Spiked Carapace means hitting you hurts them. Fortify means you heal when they damage you. Last Stand means killing you is harder than they think. And the Banner means your team heals just by standing near you.

If you wanted to play the class that walks into a 1v3 and makes it everyone else's problem — the Vanguard is finally that class.
